THE INN AT WHITEWELL

MARKS ARTISAN BREAD

The bakery prides itself on being the only truly authentic artisan bakery in the area. All the bread, pies and cakes are made from scratch each day on the premises. You won’t find any preservatives or chemicals used in the baking process which does mean the bread
has to be sold that day to ensure it’s enjoyed at its best. Get there early as it sells fast!

BOLTON ABBEY

Bolton Abbey is the Yorkshire home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, comprising of 30,000 acres of moorland, woodland and agriculture. Families visit time and time again to enjoy the spectacular view from the top gate down to the stepping stones over the river
where they can paddle with fishing nets and play on the beach whilst taking in the view of The Priory. There are lots of lovely local walks around The Abbey and its grounds.

DUNSOP BRIDGE

Dunsop Bridge is the entrance to the famous Trough of Bowland popular with thousands of fell walkers.
This 10 mile (16.4 km) circular
walk takes in the Fells through the Trough of Bowland and then climbs to the remote uplands. It also gives a stunning view into the beautiful valley of the Brennand River.

PENDLE HILL

Pendle Hill is one of this area’s most impressive landmarks – you can see it for miles. It looks steep, and while it will have you huffing and puffing a little, the effort is 100% worth it!

If you’re planning to walk up Pendle Hill, there are a few options of routes. The most common is to climb up the steep step-like path. It’s a well-kept trail, and while it is quite a tough gradient, it doesn’t take that long to reach the summit.

STOCKS RESERVOIR

Stocks Reservoir is situated at the head of the Hodder Valley in the Forest of Bowland. The reservoir has a fly fishing club which is very popular in the summer months and a small cafe which is popular with walkers.

The Stocks Reservoir Circuit is a 6.7 mile loop trail which is rated as moderate.

Customers walking through the door of D. Byrne & Co and into the cellars below street level would be forgiven for thinking they had stepped back in time. Housed in this wonderful old shop is a staggering selection of the finest quality wines and spirits to be found
under one roof anywhere in the country. The atmosphere in the shop is worth a visit in itself – the creak of the old floorboards, the smell of freshly ground coffee and the tinkle of bottles deep in the cellars.

BOWLAND WILD BOAR AND ANIMAL PARK

Situated in the heart of The Forest of Bowland you will find the Wild Boar and Animal Park surrounded by fells and woodland sat on the banks of the River Hodder. A family run rural wildlife park

THORNTON HALL COUNTRY PARK

Experience hands-on animal encounters such as bottle-feeding, egg-collecting and animal petting on a traditional working farm. Climb on board a Safari Ride and take a trip up to The Deer Park . Enjoy some delicious food in the onsite Diner while the little ones burn

BILLY BOBS ICE CREAM PARLOUR

Billy Bobs is an All American Diner experience set amongst the gorgeous backdrop of The Yorkshire Dales. Think hearty portions of American style food using local farm-to-table food
and seasonal ingredients. Seating is in booths or aboard the retro yellow School Bus with lively music from the juke box.

Outdoors there’s all manner of wooden play structures, just begging to be clambered over (aimed at 9yrs and under) and a play barn with ropes and hay bales. The ice cream parlour offers 30 flavours of ice cream .. Key Lime Pie flavour anyone?

Pendle Sculpture Park is a wonderful setting in Aitken Wood near Barley, Lancashire where artists have created a number of sculptures inspired by The Pendle Witches and local heritage. The sculptures are located along a well-marked trail. Also try to find the ten
ceramic plaques each telling the story of one of the Pendle Witches. Grab a leaflet from the Information Centre at Barley Picnic Site. The walk is about two miles long and starts and finishes in the village.

CLITHEROE CASTLE & MUSEUM

Overlooking the picturesque town of
Clitheroe is the ancient landmark, Clitheroe Castle. Sitting proudly on top of its limestone mound the Castle has dominated the local skyline for over 800 years. The Castle and grounds are open daily and free to visit. Stunning panoramic views of Ribble Valley’s beautiful, historic landscape can be seen from here which certainly makes the climb up to the top worthwhile! Visitors will also find a Gift Shop and Café making it a great day out for all the family.
